Frequently Asked Questions

What is thermography?

Thermography is a computerized, whole body, non-invasive scan that measures subtle differences in skin temperature to screen for various health conditions and their underlying cause. Although not a replacement for mammograms, many women prefer thermograms over mammograms for annual breast screenings because there is no radiation or pain.

Mammography vs. Camera Thermography vs. Alfa Regulation Thermography - What’s the difference?

Infrared cameras detect heat radiation from the skin but have been dismissed by conventional medicine due to the high false positives/negatives. Mammograms are a specialized x-ray that screens for breast pathology including cancer. Alfa Dynamic Regulation thermography records subtle variations in skin temperature that reflects the health and function of underlying organs and tissue. Change in skin temperature precede structural disorders such as tumors. Alfa Regulation Thermography is oriented toward prevention and identification of root cause factors.

Is thermography just for the women?

Thermography is for everyone! Thermography can identify 40+ patterns using powerful computer analytics. Thermography can help in both identifying and/or preventing cancer, autoimmune disease, Lyme’s disease, inflammatory disorders, endocrine problems, reproductive health, and cerebrovascular abnormalities or events.

How do I prepare for a thermography test?

For the best results, we request that the morning of the test you:

  • Do not drink coffee, black tea, or caffeinated beverages, and do not smoke the morning of the test. A light breakfast is acceptable, but nothing piping hot.

  • Do not exercise the morning of the test. This includes running, yoga, Pilates, etc.

  • Do not shower or bathe the morning of the test. However, a quick shower using only tepid water is allowable, as is a shower or bath the night before. Do not use body sprays, skin cream or lotions, or cosmetics the morning of the test.

  • Refrain from “regulative” and therapeutic practices within 36 hours prior to the test. This includes acupuncture, bio-energetic treatments, therapeutic massage, classical homeopathy, chiropractic treatments, etc.

  • Refrain from dentistry and dental cleanings at least 3 days prior to the test.

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that can be easily removed. During the test, you will need to disrobe to your underpants. Wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants, even if the weather is hot or humid. Avoid synthetic fibers and tight clothing. Do not wear a bra, or remove it at least 15 minutes prior to the test.

  • Come to appointment hydrated; drink 12-16oz of water ½ - 2 hours before the test.

What should I expect during my thermography test?

  • When you first arrive, we’ll have you relax for 15-20 minutes to regulate your body temperature.

  • You will be standing still for 20-30 minutes during the test. Please be aware that if you feel lightheaded for any reason during the test, the test will be rescheduled.

  • A full report of findings and action plan will be generated and a specialist will review your results over a phone consultation with you.
